I want to share
with you a refreshing summer beverage I've been calling 'the Watermelon
Wake-up'. I saw a recipe for a watermelon slushie recently and adapted it. (Can't remember where! let me know if it's on your site and I'll mention it!) Much healthier than a frozen coffee drink, but still has a
bit of caffeine to help get your day going. 2 ingredients: Frozen
watermelon, and Green tea.
There is a little bit of prep for this one, so it's best to do it the day before.

-Chop up your watermelon into chunks and freeze it in a container or ziplock. (a lot is good so you can make these whenever you want!)
- Brew some green tea! or whatever tea you like. I used a combo of green and rasberry leaf. Let this cool and then keep it in the fridge.

I have a little handheld blender that makes this pretty easy, but your standard blender will be fine. So now just blend the two! I'm not much for measurements, but I'd say I used about 8oz tea, & 1 1/2 C. Frozen watermelon. Add more or less tea/watermelon depending how icy you want it. Enjoy!
This looks yummy!! Is the handheld blender easier to clean up? I never get my blender out b/c I hate cleaning it!
ReplyDeleteyes, the blade part detaches and if you rinse it right after you use it it's really easy and quick to clean. and you can make your smoothie right in the cup you drink it from :) I think this is the one I have http://www.cuisinart.com/products/hand_blenders/csb-76.html
DeleteIt is :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThose look so good! Ah i need to try something like this!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I've been doing some different variations of it that are good too! A friend told me to try it with coconut milk and lemon. Going to try that next!
