Faux Apple Picking

A couple of weeks ago my friend Jackie came up and visited me from Long Island. Jackie is pretty much the only friend who I managed to stay close with after high school. I love that even if we don't talk for a couple of weeks, as soon as we do we pick up right where we left off, and are usually hysterically laughing within minutes. She's super easy going, and really she just rules. The only problem is we live 100- something miles away from one another and our days off of work rarely match up!
The weekend before Halloween she was able to come up for 1 day. (not enough girl time at all!) So we had to cram the day with adventure the second she got here. We got brunch at this cute spot called Babycakes over by Vassar college. Then we decided to go apple picking, but apparently there are no more apples on the trees at the end of October!? So we went faux apple picking, and picked the best ones out of 4 different bins. I made Jackie pretend to pick apples from the trees because picking them from a bin just isn't all that exciting for a picture. We made a day of it and rode the hayride, played in the corn maze, had cider donuts, and hung out with some farm animals. I even held my first chicken!  After our big farm adventure we got cozy at the house with a zombie movie and some burritos. Once night came around we got in our Halloween costumes and headed to New Paltz and Jackie headed home.
Sometimes I forget how great it is to have a good girl friend around since I spend most of my time with boys. Not that I don't have a great time with the boys, just it's good to get some feminine energy around me. Anyway, that day really ruled, and having a good girl friend around really rules too.

having fun

We made our way around Po-town this weekend in search of what will be our new bar while celebrating Mel's birthday. Found strobe lights and unfriendly bartenders, but that didn't stop us from having a good time.  The search continues!

Jam-Packed Weekend!

This weekend was non-stop celebration. We were surrounded by family and friends as we celebrated birthdays, Father's Day, our friend's newborn baby, and John's graduation! It started out with barbequing and hot air balloon watching at my grandparents house upstate NY. My dad and younger sister were there too, which implies that we were all laughing the entire time. Sunday morning John and I headed down to Jersey to celebrate his college graduation at a lovely Italian restaurant. I am super proud of my cutie graduate boyfriend! The food was awesome and we got to spend time with more family and friends. Then we headed out to one of John's friend's house to meet his new little baby, Fay. She is the sweetest thing! I love having a good jam-packed weekend. Especially when I have Monday's off to relax and take it all in. <3

Herbs and Pool / An Eventful Saturday

Last Saturday was super fun and eventful. I texted Marena early in the morning to see if she wanted to hang in New Paltz. And I am so glad she did because we had the best all day and night hang out in a long time! Lunch at Bistro, thrifting at Salvo, we started her rooftop garden, played pool and had some beers with some of her friends, and then Sake at Oasis. Can't wait to see what this Saturday will bring!

Double Dozen

These are just some fun disposable camera photos from the week I turned 24. Because we celebrate birthdays for a week around here.  So I technically will still be celebrating for 2 more days. The week has been filled with adventure, old friends, and walruses!

the freakin' weekend

Our friend Anthony visited us this weekend. We had a very fun and relaxing time which included some beers, lots of coziness, really good Thai food, lots of snacking, and almost all of Trapped in the Closet. Happy Monday.
