Lunch Brick

Just hanging around the train station, freezing my butt off during a lunch break.

Lately

I've been pushing myself in a lot of ways lately to just do more and be better.  I've been working hard on being healthy,  reading more, listening to more music, going to shows, being more social and just generally saying yes to as many opportunities as I can. This weekend that meant seeing some bands play in New Paltz, going out to the bar for a friend's birthday, the arlington street festival in Po-town (I got bubble tea, falafel, a veggie samosa, & thrifted 2 shirts and a wallet for 50cents!) , and a kinda crazy Fall party held by one of my coworkers.  And today has just been really wonderful and relaxing.  John and I opened all the windows, cleaned and saged our apt., and then cuddled in a hammock in the sun.  Just feelin' super excited that Fall is here and feel like it's going to be a really productive and beautiful season for me.

24 Miles

I have been sort of absent from this little blog of mine lately. Things were a bit hectic last week I suppose. These are just some cell phone pics from a break we took on our 24 mile round trip bicycle ride the other day. I've just gotten comfortable with 12-16 miles at a time so 24 was tough! But felt really great and I stopped feeling bad about the veggie burger and fries and ice cream from the night before.  I've escaped to Vermont for the weekend and am about to enjoy a delicious all local meal after a day of pedal boating on the lake! Feeling pretty good. What are you doing this weekend?!

having fun

We made our way around Po-town this weekend in search of what will be our new bar while celebrating Mel's birthday. Found strobe lights and unfriendly bartenders, but that didn't stop us from having a good time.  The search continues!

Saturday, in the Park

Yesterday was the perfect spring day. We woke up, watched this in bed and loved it. Then we tried to figure out what "I beez in the trap" meant with no success, and then headed in to town. After helping clean up the park for a friend's volunteer program, we walked to Lola's for lunch. We had delicious black bean burgers and eggplant paninis. Sorry if you're getting bored of the flowering tree pictures, but I'm not bored of taking them yet!

Locust Grove

John scooped me up from work the other day and we went right to Locust Grove, a little gem for us in this city. There is a small cottage on the property that I decided I want to live in. It's the perfect tiny cozy little thing surrounded by acres of gardens and hiking trails that overlook the Hudson river. Too bad it's a historic estate and museum so that wont quite work out for me. I'll just have to keep having photo shoots in the garden then.

Funny Pair

It was almost 2 months ago I made a post telling you about the 1/2 your age collaboration for Barrett. You can see some of what the process was like here if you haven't already. So, Saturday was the opening and let me tell you, Jeff and I worked down to the minute. We didn't procrastinate, I swear! Things just take longer than you think! There are still a few little things we want to do to our pieces, so we listed them for sale but as a "work in progress." The opening was great and the place was packed!
Oh, I guess I should tell you what we made! We titled our piece "Funny Pair 1 & 2." We made 2 wooden sculptural yet functional cabinets. Once we get them professionally photographed I will post pictures showing how they operate.Or you can see them in person at Barrett Art Center, they will be showing until May 6th!

Celebrity Waiters Brunch

Last Sunday I went to an event for the MHCM at a super fancy catering hall on the Hudson River! Local "celebrities" (Papa Snooks, some people from the radio, and Bobby of My Brother Bobby's Salsa were the ones I knew of) waited on us and served up non-stop mimosas and bloody Marys. There were waffle and omelet stations and fancy desserts. As you can see, I was a bit more interested in the food and chandeliers than our waiters. The brunch was silly and fun, and had an amazing turnout!
