I spent a lot of time with my sewing machine this weekend and one of the things I made was this little hen and chick wall quilt. It was a kit that John's nana bought and asked me to help put it together for her. It was harder than I thought it would be! Lots of measuring and cutting and well, sewing. But, I had a lot of fun putting it together for her and sharpened up my quilting/ applique skills. Sure it's a little wonky and certainly isn't perfect but it's handmade and nana said it's perfect to her so that's all that matters. I also made a beach bag this weekend that I am pretty proud of. I'll share that with you later when it's not raining and I can get some good pictures.
I know it's only a Wednesday, but it feels like this week is almost over for some reason. It's been mostly work, walking, and crafting for me so far. The top picture is a butterfly mobile I made for the museum! And the bottom one is of some Popsicle sticks that I assembled for a craft at the museum, then I realized they kinda resembled a chevron pattern! Neat. Now I am roasting some cauliflower so I better go check on that. Have a good week!
This detachable collar thing was super easy and fun to make! I used a shirt that I've had for a while but is too big on me so I never wear it. I cut the collar off the shirt making sure to cut along the hem so it wouldn't fray. Then I ironed it so it would have a nice crease. The shirt I was using had some pretty lace on it, so I cut the lace off and hot glued it to the collar! Done! The collar could be embellished in a ton of different ways. Sequins, beads, fabric paint, embroidery, buttons.. whatever you please!
New work for the MHCM commision.(Here and Here.) The triangular shapes above were inspired by Mexican cookies called 'Polvorons'. I have really been into working with felt and have been teaching myself needle felting! more on that soon.
My first real commission! I'm creating a variety of faux bakery items for the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum! The products I'm making will be used in the museum's RiverTown exhibit. Above is just a peak at the begining of the process,and my messy craft table.
